【二十八品に一文充の大事 】

神力品 (注)

十界なり   断破元品無明
是人於仏道  決定無有疑(注)

此の文は十界各各本有本覚の十如是なれば、地獄も仏界も一如なれば成仏決定するなり。

所謂、南無妙法蓮華経の受持なり云云。



神力品
神力品第二十では、上行菩薩を上首とする無数ともいえる地涌の菩薩に対し、釈迦滅後に「妙法蓮華経」を弘通する為の付属が説かれている。
この付属を「別付属」と称する。神力品に引き続いて説かれる「属累品第二十一」では娑婆世界以外の国土から参集した菩薩への付属が説かれるが
この付属を「総付属」と言う。

日蓮大聖人はこの神力品の付属について【【神力品八箇の大事】第一 妙法蓮華経如来神力の事】で、次の様に解き明かされておられます。
『御義口伝に云く、此の妙法蓮華経は釈尊の妙法には非ざるなり既に此の品の時上行菩薩に付属し給う故なり、惣じて妙法蓮華経を上行菩薩に付属し給う事は宝塔品の時事起り・寿量品の時事顕れ、神力属累の時事竟るなり』と。

是人於仏道  決定無有疑
神力品の最終伝で説かれる下記の文にある偈となります。
[原文]
於如来滅後 知仏所説経 因縁及次第 随義如実説
如日月光明 能除諸幽冥 斯人行世間 能滅衆生闇
教無量菩薩 畢竟住一乗 是故有智者 聞此功徳利
於我滅度後 応受持斯経 是人於仏道 決定無有疑
[和訳]
如来の滅後に於いて、仏の説く所の経の因縁及び次第について知りて、義に随い実の如く説き、
無量の菩薩に教え、畢竟して一(仏)乗に住せしめん。是の故に有智の者は、此の功徳を利することを聞きて、
我が滅度の後に於いて、応に斯の経を受持すべし。是の人は仏道に於いて、決定して疑いあること無かりけり。

The Last Religious Precepts by Nikko.

January 13, 1333. Nikko Shonin, eighty-eight years old.


If I think, the sun of the propagating in the latter days of the Law lights up the darkness of the atrocious slander, and the marvelous wind of the eternal life span blows off the provisional and temporary teachings that Buddha had attained enlightenment in Buddha Gaya. Oh, for example, it is a fig which blooms only once in 3000 years, and the hole of the tree of a floating sandalwood in the vast ocean that it is rare to encounter the Law of Buddha, moreover, it is thought that these metaphors do not be enough.

Fortunately, we were able to encounter this sutra by destiny being thick deeply. Therefore, the reasons why I write a precept for the future disciples is for receiving the wise saying of Kosen-rufu.

1. The doctrine of Fuji should not be different in the least from the propagation which the previous teacher performed.

2. The doctrine of five people all differ from the propagation of the previous teacher.

3. There is a person considering writings of Daishonin to be forgery and they will destroy and criticize our sect. You must not get close to him familiarly if such an evil priest appeared.

4. There will be a person who make forgery, and call it a writing of Daishonin, and there will be a person training himself putting the same value on the essence and the provisional. You should understand that he is a traitor within the walls.

5. Without criticizing against slandering Buddha's Law, you must not spend time for a play and an idle talk and not take to a non-Buddhist writing and an art.

6. You must forbid Shinto shrine worship and visit of the believers. Why they visit the Buddhist temple and Shinto shrine of the evil spirit intrusion, disobeying Buddha's teachings for a glance with a low talent? It is never enough to be chagrined. This is not doctrine of me totally but depends on text of a sutra or writing of Daishonin and so on.

7. You allow not engaging in the trivial routine duties of the teacher about the disciple having the talent and must let him learn various teachings including a writing of Daishonin.

8. The populace who is inexperienced in study and who wants a fame and fortune does not deserve to be my disciple.

9. Shaking off the affection from parents and teacher while the believers of me in the future do not understand Lotus Sutra and pre-Lotus Sutra, for leaving this world of the sufferings and attaining enlightenment, they visit this temple and must study.

10. You must not do study of Tientai school without grasp of the doctrine.

11. In our denomination, you dye sublime writing of Daishonin into your soul and convey the supreme theory from a teacher, and should hear Tientai if there is spare time.

12. Enjoy the discussion and lectures and not mix up the other things.

13. While Kosen-ruhu does not yet be achieved, you should propagate the Law until the full extent of your ability, without begrudging life.

【二十八品に一文充の大事 】

不軽品 (注)

応当一心 広説此経 世世値仏 疾成仏道(注)  

此の文は、法界皆、本来三諦一心に具わる事を顕せば、己心の念念仏に値う事を、即ち世世値仏と云うなり。

所謂、南無妙法蓮華経是なり。



不軽品 
常不軽菩薩品第二十は、如来寿量品第十六以降の流通分として「分別功徳品第十七、随喜功徳品第十八、法師功徳品第十九」と展開し、
法華経を読誦し他者に解説することによって衆生が得られる功徳・福運の偉大さを示してきたが、
常不軽菩薩品第二十に於いて釈尊は、冒頭で次のように説き、釈尊の過去世の姿「不軽菩薩」を通して「法華経の行者を迫害をすることの法罰」について解き明かしている。
『爾時仏告 得大勢菩薩摩訶薩 汝今当知 若比丘 比丘尼 優婆塞 優婆夷 
 持法華経者 若有悪口 罵詈誹謗 獲大罪報』


応当一心 広説此経 世世値仏 疾成仏道
常不軽菩薩品第二十の最終段の下記の文文にある偈となります。
[原文]
諸仏世尊 時説是経 是故行者 於仏滅後
聞如是経 勿生疑惑 応当一心 広説此経
世世値仏 疾成仏道
[和訳]
諸仏・世尊は、時に是の(法華)経を説きたもう。是の故に行者は、仏の滅後に於いて、
是の如く経を聞きて疑惑を生じること勿れ。に一心に広く此の(法華)経を説きて、
世世に仏に値いたもうて、疾かに仏道を成ぜん

日蓮大聖人が本抄で『世世に仏に値いたもうて、疾かに仏道を成ぜん』と説いているのは、仏とは末法の本仏大聖人が自らの魂魄をご図現なされた「十界曼荼羅御本尊」を意味し、「世世に仏に値いたもうて疾かに仏道を成ぜん」とは朝夕に御本尊に向かいて「南無妙法蓮華経」と唱え、己心の仏界を開き「即身成仏」することを意味されておられます。

Document to inherit Mt. Minobu.

October 13, 1282. Sixty-one years old.


I transmit Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings of fifty years to Byakuren Ajari Nikko. He should be the chief of Kuonji Temple on Mt. Minobu. Crowd of laity or priests who disobey him are fellows of going against the Law.


The thirteenth day of October in the fifth year of Ko'an (1282). At place of Ikegami in Bushu Province.

Nichiren.

【二十八品に一文充の大事 】


法師功徳品 (注)

静 散 十界なり
入禅出禅者  聞香悉能知 (注)
不変死  随縁生  題目五字なり
 
此の文は一心、静なる時は入禅、一心散乱する時は出禅、静散即本覚と知るを悉能知と云うなり。

所謂南無妙法蓮華経は入禅出禅なり云云。



法師功徳品
法師功徳品第十九では冒頭に釈尊が常精進菩薩に対し、下記の様に、法華経を読誦・解説・書写する善男女は眼・耳・鼻・舌・身・意つまり六根を荘厳する功徳を得ると説き、その後各功徳の内容を具体的に示し、法華経を読誦し他者に解説することの功徳の偉大さを示しています。
『若善男子 善女人 受持是法華経 若読 若誦 若解説 若書写 是人当得 八百眼功徳
千二百耳功徳 八百鼻功徳 千二百舌功徳 八百身功徳 千二百意功徳以 是功徳 荘厳六根』

入禅出禅者  聞香悉能知
法師功徳品の下記の文にある偈となります。
[原文]
如是展転上 乃至於梵天 入禅出禅者 聞香悉能知
光音遍浄天 乃至于有頂 初生及退没 聞香悉能知
諸比丘衆等 於法常精進 若坐若経行 及読誦経法
[和訳]
是の如く展転し上りて、乃ち梵天に至り、禅に入りて禅に出ずる者、香を聞きて悉く能く知れり。
光音・遍浄の天より、乃ち于有頂に至る。初に生ると及び退没するを、香を聞きて悉く能く知れり。
比丘衆等は、法に於いて常に精進し、若くは坐し若くは経を行じ、及び経法を読誦せられけり。

日蓮大聖人は御義口伝【法師功徳品四箇の大事】で次の様に断じられておられます。
『第一 法師功徳の事
御義口伝に云く法師とは五種法師なり功徳とは六根清浄の果報なり、所詮今日蓮等の類い南無妙法蓮華経と唱え奉る者は六根清浄なり、されば妙法蓮華経の法の師と成つて大なる徳有るなり、功は幸と云う事なり又は悪を滅するを功と云い善を生ずるを徳と云うなり、功徳とは即身成仏なり又六根清浄なり、法華経の説文の如く修行するを六根清浄と得意可きなり云云』と。

 Missive for Entrusting the Law that Nichiren Propagated throughout his Life

 September in 1282.



 I, Nichiren, entrust the entirety of the Law that I have propagated throughout my life to Byakuren Ajari Nikko and designate him the great leader of propagation of the essential teachings. When the sovereign embraces this Law, establish the Sanctuary of Hommongi Temple at Mount Fuji. You must await the time. This is the practical religious precept of the Law. Above all, my disciples and others must obey this missive.


September in the fifth year of Ko'an (1282).

A Reply to the Saints. 聖人等御返事

A Reply to the Saints.

October 17, 1279. Fifty-eight years old.


Your letter, being written in the hour of the bird [5:00–7:00 P. M.] of the fifteenth day of this month, reached me in the hour of the bird of the seventeenth day of the same month. I learned that when accused [the three braves of Atsuhara] received the wrath of the officials, they chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. I am sure that the ten demon's daughters entered to Heino Saemon himself and must have tested the faiths of these votaries of the Lotus Sutra. For example, it is similar to the way in which the Snow Mountain Boy and King Shibi once had been tested. Or an evil demon might have entered to the Heino Saemon himself. This is that Shakyamuni, Taho, the ten directions' Buddha, Brahma and Shakra have vowed to guard and protect the votaries of the Lotus Sutra in the fifth five-hundred-year period. ‘The treatise on the great perfection of wisdom’ says “can change poison into medicines”. And Tientai says that “the poison is changed into medicines”. If the word of myo is not powerless, it should without fail deal out merits and punishments to them.

Hokibo and the others ponder deeply on this meaning and should accomplish our purpose on the trial.

Finally tell to the Heino Saemon, "Have you forgotten what the sainthood told you when the sainthood appeared before you to answer charges against the saint at the Bun'ei era? The calamities the sainthood predicted at that time have yet to come to an end. Notwithstanding that, do you intend to invite the punishment of the ten demon's daughters repeatedly?".

At the hour of the dog [7:00–9:00 P. M.] of the seventeenth day of October.

A reply to the sainthood and the others.


When saying these things, everyone will surely say that there is no offence on our side. Also, that becomes clear from the punishment that Daishinbo fell from his horse. And everyone will fear if it becomes clear that he died. This is arrangement of heavens.

For that reason, all of you should not be afraid. So long as all of you remain firm in mind, I am sure that various circumstances will concur to give us the success.

This time I will send all of you Awajibo as a messenger.

随喜功徳品(注)
 

言此経深妙 千万劫難遇 (注)
 
此の文は、一切衆生の妙法なれば、一心の深底より顕はさん事、甚深不思議なり。

所謂南無妙法蓮華経不思議なり。



随喜功徳品
随喜功徳品第十八は「五十展転(こじゅうてんでん)」の福徳を説いている。
つまり最初に法華経を聞いて随喜した者が他の人に勧め、勧められたその人が更に他の人にまた勧めて、五十番目に至って聞いたその人の福徳は無量であり、ましてや最初に聞いて人に勧めた人の福徳は比べるべくもないと説き、法華経弘通の原理を示している品となっています。

日蓮大聖人は本抄で、「一切衆生の一心の深底より顕はした妙法蓮華経は甚深不思議の妙法である」と断じ為されておられます。

言此経深妙 千万劫難遇
随喜功徳品の下記の文にある偈
[原文]
如是展転聞 其福尚無量 何況於法会 初聞随喜者
若有勧一人 将引聴法華 言此経深妙 千万劫難遇
[和訳]
是の如く展転して(この法華経を)聞かば、其の福は尚、無量なり。何に況んや法会に於いて、初めて(法華経)を聞いて随喜せし者が、
若し一人にも(この法華経を)勧めて、将に引聴いて「此の経は深妙にして、千万劫にも遇うこと難し」と言こと有れば(其の福は尚さらである)

The Honorific Phrase which had been Added to the Grand Gohonzon of the Sanctuary of the Radical Teachings.

The twelfth day of October 1279. Fifty-eight years old.



I had erected this in this way for the present and the future. The petitioners of the sanctuary of the radical teachings are Kunishige Yashiro and the followers of the Lotus Sutra who respectfully state.

In the twelfth day of October in the second year of Ko'an (1279).

About the Mongolia.  蒙古事

About the Mongolia.

August 6, 1280. Age:58.


All of you have been wondering whether the Mongols will attack again, but I believe that it is now imminent. Though the ruin of our country would be deplorable, if the invasion does not take place, the Japanese people will slander the Lotus Sutra more than ever, and all of them will fall into the hell of incessant suffering. Although the nation may be ruined by the strength of the Mongols, the slander of the correct teachings will weaken. For instance, that defeat is same as a moxibustion or an acupuncture. Though both are anguished at that time, these bring happiness later. Nichiren is the emissary of the Lotus Sutra; Japanese people look like King Mihirakula, who destructed Buddhism of the whole world. The Mongol empire looks like King Himatala, they seem to penalize hostiles of the votary of the Lotus Sutra as a messenger from heavens. Also, if the Japanese confess their sins now, they will look like King Ajatashatru, who became a follower of the Buddha, cured his white leprosy, and prolonged his life forty years; though he had no roots of faiths, he could reach the first stage of faiths by the power of Buddha, and he himself gained the realization that phenomena neither are born nor perish.
