GOSHO 立正安国論7  災難の証拠三


 主人の(いわ)く、()の文繁多(はんた)にして其の(しょう)()(ばく)なり。

The host said: There are numerous passages that could be cited and a wide variety of proofs.

The host replied: There are many such supporting passages in numerous sutras.

The host said: There are numerous sentences and a wide variety of proofs.

(こん)(こう)(みょう)(きょう)に云く「其の国土に(おい)()の経有りと(いえど)(いま)(かつ)流布(るふ)せしめず、

For example, in the Golden Light Sutra we read: “[The four heavenly kings said to the Buddha], ‘Though this sutra exists in the nation, its ruler has never allowed it to be propagated.

The Sutra of the Golden Light teaches as follows: Although this sutra has been introduced to the country, it has yet to be widely disseminated. [The king] has neglected the true Law.

The Golden Light Sutra says: "'Though this sutra existed in that nation, its ruler has never allowed it to be propagated.

捨離(しゃり)の心を生じて聴聞(ちょうもん)せん事を(ねが)わず、(また)供養(くよう)尊重(そんちょう)讃歎(さんたん)せず、

In his heart he turns away from it, and he takes no pleasure in hearing its teachings. He neither makes offerings to it, honors it, nor praises it.

He has been unwilling to listen to it, make offerings, show respect, or praise it.

He has a mind to turn away from it and does not desire to hear its teachings. In addition, he is unwilling to listen to it, do an offerings, show respect, or praise it.

四部の衆・()(きょう)の人を見るも、(また)()尊重(そんちょう)乃至(ないし)供養(くよう)すること(あた)わず、

Nor is he willing to honor or make offerings to the four kinds of Buddhists who embrace the sutra.

When he has seen the four kinds of believers who embrace the true Law, he has neither respected nor made offerings to them.

Though when the four kinds of believers saw a person who holds the true Law, they do not respect him and not give offerings to him.

(つい)に我れ等及び()眷属(けんぞく)無量(むりょう)の諸天をして此の(じん)(じん)の妙法を聞くことを()ざらしめ、甘露(かんろ)の味に(そむ)き、正法の(ながれ)を失い、威光(いこう)及以(およ)び勢力有ること無からしむ、

In the end, he makes it impossible for us and the other countless heavenly beings who are our followers to hear this profound and wonderful teaching. He deprives us of the sweet dew of its words and cuts us off from the flow of the correct teaching, so that our majesty and strength are drained away.

In the end, he created a situation in which, we [the four heavenly kings], our followers, and the countless guardian deities, can no longer hear this profound teaching of the mystic Law. Because the guardian deities have been alienated from the true Law and are unable to enjoy the flavor of ambrosia, their power and influence have dissipated.

In the end, he makes it impossible that we and kindred and the countless heavens hear this deepest wonderful teachings. He deprives us of the sweet dew of its words and cuts us off from the flow of the correct teaching, and makes our majesty and strength extinguish.

(あく)(しゅ)を増長し、人天を損減(そんげん)し、生死(しょうじ)の河に()ちて涅槃(ねはん)の路に(そむ)かん、

Thus the number of beings who occupy the evil paths increases, and the number who dwell in the human and heavenly realms decreases. People fall into the river of the sufferings of birth and death and turn their backs on the road to nirvana.

This, in turn, has caused the power of the four evil paths to grow among the people and the virtues of the worlds of humanity and rapture to wither. Ultimately, all souls have fallen into the river of the sufferings of birth and death, drifting away from the path to enlightenment.

Thus while many bad tastes increase the number of the human and heavens decreases. People fall into the river of the sufferings of birth and death and turn their backs on the road to nirvana.
