末法の本仏の立場で法華経二十八品を後継者、日興上人に口伝した書【御義口伝 下】要点解説(124)

【二十八品に一文充の大事 】


薬草喩品(注)

            三世     一切衆生なるべし
又諸仏子 専心仏道 常行慈悲  自知作仏   如我等無異
    心を仏道に専にし 常に慈悲を行じ 自ら作仏することを知り我 が如く等しくして異なること無からしむ
 
此の文は当来(注)の成仏顕然なり。所謂南無妙法蓮華経なり。



薬草喩品
薬草喩品第五では法華七喩の一つ、三草二木(さんそうにもく)が説かれる。
ここでの比喩は、仏が衆生に説法する意義について、落雷とともに天に雨雲が立ち込め、大地に生える異なる特質を持つ全ての草木に、不足のない満ち足りた雨水を降り注ぐ事に譬えて、仏が全ての衆生を差別することなく仏道に導くと言う、無量無辺の慈悲を解き明かしています。

Gosho 立正安国論21  正法を誹謗する由四

法華経に云く「悪世の中の比丘(びく)邪智(じゃち)にして心諂曲(てんごく)に、(いま)()ざるを()れ得たりと(おも)い、我慢(がまん)の心充満(じゅうまん)せん、

The Lotus Sutra says: “In that evil age there will be monks with perverse wisdom and hearts that are fawning and crooked who will suppose they have attained what they have not attained, being proud and boastful in heart.

The Lotus Sutra describes: Monks in the evil age will be cunning, have distorted minds and fawn over others. They will think they have attained enlightenment when they have nottheir hearts filled with conceit and arrogance.

The Lotus Sutra describes: Monks in the evil times will hold wicked wisdom and are fawning. They will think they have attained what they have not attained, so their minds are filled with conceit and arrogance.

(あるい)()(れん)(にゃ)(のう)()にして(くう)(げん)に在り、(みずか)ら真の道を行ずと(おも)いて人間を軽賤(きょうせん)する者有らん、

Or there will be forest-dwelling monks wearing clothing of patched rags and living in retirement, who will claim they are practicing the true way, despising and looking down on all humankind.

Others, wearing shabby robes, will place themselves in quiet surroundings far removed from other people. Believing that they carry out true Buddhist practice, they look down upon all others.

Or there will be monk wearing shabby robes, he will place themselves in quiet and distant surroundings. And being proud that he does the true religious practice, he looks down upon all others.

()(よう)(とん)(じゃく)するが故に白衣(びゃくえ)()めに法を説いて世に()(ぎょう)せらるること六通の羅漢(らかん)の如くならん、

Greedy for profit and support, they will preach the Law to white-robed laymen and will be respected and revered by the world as though they were arhats who possess the six transcendental powers. . . .

Possessed by an insatiable desire for wealth and fame, evil monks will preach the doctrine to lay believers. They will be held in reverence by the world as if they were arhats endowed with six kinds of divine powers.

Possessed by an insatiable desire for wealth and fame, this monk will preach the Law to white-robed laymen. He will be held in reverence by people as if he is arhat endowed with six kinds of divine powers.

乃至(ないし)常に大衆の中に()つて我等を(そし)らんと欲するが故に、国王・大臣・()羅門(らもん)居士(こじ)及び()比丘(びく)衆に向つて誹謗(ひぼう)して我が悪を説いて是れ邪見(じゃけん)の人・外道(げどう)の論議を説くと()わん」。

Because in the midst of the great assembly they constantly try to defame us, they will address the rulers, high ministers, Brahmans, and householders, as well as the other monks, slandering and speaking evil of us, saying, ‘These are men of perverted views who preach non-Buddhist doctrines!’ . . .

Always putting themselves among the people and wanting to vilify each one of us [those propagating the Lotus Sutra], they will influence the king, government ministers, Brahmans, wealthy patrons of Buddhism, and other monks and slander by saying, He is a man of wicked views; he expounds heretical doctrines”.

Because in the midst of the great assembly they constantly try to defame us, they will preach the rulers, high ministers, Brahmans, householders, and other laymen, slandering and preaching evil of us, saying, ‘They are people of perverted views who preach non-Buddhist doctrines!'.
