末法の本仏の立場で法華経二十八品を後継者、日興上人に口伝した書【御義口伝 下】要点解説(80)

【薬王品六箇の大事】

第三  離一切苦 一切病痛 能解一切 生死之縛の事(注)

 御義口伝に云く、法華の心は煩悩即菩提・生死即涅槃(注)なり。離解の二字は此の説相に背くなり(注)、然るに離の字をば明とよむなり。
本門寿量の慧眼、開けて見れば、本来本有の病痛苦悩なりと明らめたり。仍つて自受用報身の智慧なり。

解とは我等が生死は今始めたる生死に非ず、本来本有の生死なり、始覚の思縛(注)解くるなり云云。
離解の二字は南無妙法蓮華経なり云云。



離一切苦 一切病痛 能解一切 生死之縛の事
薬王品の以下の文にある偈
[原文]
此法華経。亦復如是。能令衆生。離一切苦。
一切病痛。能解一切。生死之縛。
[和訳]
此の法華経は、亦復、是の如く、能く衆生をして一切の苦、
一切の病痛を離し、能く一切の生死の縛を解けり。

離解の二字は此の説相に背くなり
日蓮大聖人は薬王品で説かれる「離解」について以下の様に解き明かされている。
『此の説相とは法華の心つまり神髄は如来寿量品で説かれている「煩悩即菩提・生死即涅槃」であり、薬王品で説かれている衆生を煩悩からしたり、生死の縛をく事ではない』と断じられている。

上記について日蓮大聖人は「観心本尊抄」で次の様に明確に解き明かされておられます。
『本門十四品の一経に序正流通有り。涌出品(第15)の半品を序分と為し、寿量品(第16)と前後の二半と此れを正宗と為す、其の余は流通分なり。
其の教主を論ずれば始成正覚の釈尊に非ず、所説の法門も亦天地の如し、十界久遠の上に国土世間既に顕われ、一念三千殆んど竹膜を隔つ。又迹門並びに前四味・無量義経・涅槃経等の三説は悉く随他意の易信易解、本門は三説の外の難信難解・随自意なり。
 又本門に於て序正流通有り。過去大通仏の法華経より乃至現在の華厳経乃至迹門十四品、涅槃経等の一代五十余年の諸経、十方三世諸仏の微塵の経経は、皆寿量の序分なり、一品二半(注)よりの外は小乗教・邪教・未得道教・覆相教と名く」と。

寿量品(第16)一品と、前後の二半(=涌出品(第15)の後半の半品と分別功徳品(第17)の前半の半品)

悩即菩提・生死即涅槃
煩悩から離脱しようとする小乗経の考えではなく、妙法蓮華経では煩悩のエネルギをそのまま菩提(悟り)へと昇華させる。
妙法蓮華経の象徴である蓮華は、泥中にありながら泥に染まる事無く、泥を養分として清浄な大輪の白蓮華を咲かせる。これこそ煩悩即菩提を象徴している。
法華経以外の諸経は後世の仏教徒が教の題号を名付けたが、法華経は釈尊自らが「白蓮華のような不思議な経」と名付けられた。
尚、蓮華はインドが原産で、最初の仏教伽藍である竹林精舎には白蓮華が咲き誇る池があったと伝えられている。

始覚の思縛
釈尊はインドで初めて覚知したという考えに縛られる事。
釈尊は妙法蓮華経如来寿量品第十六でそれまで説いてきた「始覚」つまり成正覚(しじょうしょうがく)の考えを自ら打ち破り、
遥か久遠に菩薩行を行し覚知し、無数とも言える仏国土で衆生を教化してきたとする「久遠実成」を解き明かした。

33. Nichiren Receives the Second Banishment to the Island of Sado.

The Shogunate vassals gathered in the large hall of Kamakura military headquarters, and an uproarious dispute began.

It is about disposal of Nichiren.

Tokimune Hojo in the center of the hall closed his eyes and crossed his arms. It looked like he was at a loss obviously. Could not decide how he would treat Nichiren.

Yoritsuna and Yasumori cursed each other as if grabbing in front of him.

Yasumori says aloud.

“Forgive and adopt Nichiren. These are selfish acts of you!”.

Yoritsuna objected.

“No, we should cut him. I only acted in charge of military headquarters this time. My conscience is clear!”.

The hall is noisy, and a heated argument continues.

Then Hojo Nobutoki suggested it.

“How about that one. Nichiren said that a war would occur during one hundred days. How is everyone's view on that we will wait for it?”.

Some vassals look puzzled. There was even the person laughing.

Yasumori put his hands on the floor, in front of Tokimune.

"My lord, we pardon Nichiren and should protect him. I hope you will forgive him”.

Yoritsuna breaks into a conversation.

"My lord, we will regret in the near future if we do not cut the neck of Nichiren. The Shogunate falls into danger if do not silence him”.

Hojo Tokimune still was closing his eyes.

An attendant came over in a hurry there.

“There is turning into the fire now in three places of Kamakura! It seems to be arson!”.

All members made noise, and the vassals left in a hurry.

Yoritsuna informs Tokimune.

“Arson and murder are already happening in succession in Kamakura.It is all the act of the Nichiren's remnants”.

Yasumori disturbed him.

“Nonsense! Without evidence. It is a deep-laid plot!”.

Yoritsuna submitted documents. A large quantity of person's name was written in there.

“I have already put 260 people of the Nichiren's sect on the wanted list”.

"Good God, sir".

Yoritsuna continues it disregarding Yasumori to be disgusted with.

“Of these, it is thought that the territory confiscation or Kamakura exile is proper as for the person who does not abandon a Lotus Sutra”.

Yoritsuna intends to destroy the Nichiren sect by careful preparation and trap.

But Tokimune said as though he has been not hearing it.

“Predict”.

Yasumori and Yoritsuna watch each other's faces unexpected unintentionally.

"Summon the Yin Yang fortune-teller".

The Yin Yang fortune-teller appeared with a form full of dignity. He began divination in front of Tokimune before long.

The power of the then Yin Yang fortune-teller is great. The Yin Yang fortune-teller predicts the good and bad luck of things and advised a statesman.

He let people rouse attention regardless of a trifle and a serious matter. The articles to tell the future insufferably come out of signs of astronomy and ominous happenings to "the Mirror of the East".

All members watched the Yin Yang fortune-teller with breathless interest.

After a while the Yin Yang fortune-teller was surprised suddenly and shuddered. 'The various acts of the votary of the Lotus Sutra' say,


“This country will fall in state of awful disorder, it is because this Buddhist priest incurred lord's anger. I cannot predict what kind of miserable matters happen in the world if we do not pardon and adopt him!”.


Must never punish Nichiren. The Yin Yang fortune-teller supported Nichiren.

Yasumori exulted. On the other hand, Yoritsuna is unsatisfied.

After long silence, Tokimune spoke with a thick tongue.

"Banish Nichiren".

"Where to?".

"To the Sado island in northern sea".

Sado is a solitary island in the mid-ocean in those days. It is equal to the present South Pole and North Pole. Returning alive was hopeless.

Though Yasumori was pleased temporarily, he heard the Sado banishment and was discouraged. Yoritsuna was working out the next countermeasure.

をと()ごぜん(御前)がいかにひと(成人)ゝなりて候らん。

How is your daughter, Oto, these days?

How finely did your daughter, Oto, grow up?

法華経にみや()()かわせ給ふほう()こう()をば、()()ぜん()の御い()さい()わいになり候はん。

I am certain that her devoted service to the Lotus Sutra will bring her long life and good fortune.

I think that her service to the Lotus Sutra will bring her good fortune.

いまは法華経をしのばせ給ひて仏にならせ給ふべき女人(にょにん)なり。

Now here is a woman who, longing for the Lotus Sutra, will surely become a Buddha.

Here is a woman who, holding the Lotus Sutra now, will surely become Buddha.

かへすがへす、ふみ()もの()()さき者なれども、たびたび申す。

As I have explained many times, I am, alas, very lax in writing.

Though I am lazy in writing a letter, I will say to you oftentimes.

()(ぼう)たちをもふびん(不憫)にあたらせ給ふとうけ給わる。

And you have been most kind to the priests in my following.

And I am hearing that you are eagerly taking care of the monks of my followings.

申すばかりなし。

I do not know how to thank you.

I have no words to thank you.
