15. Nichiren Suffers the Difficulty of the Izu Exile (9)

              Japanese edition

Yasaburo married couple felt both dignity and virtue of Nichiren while they took care of Nichiren, and they became a believer naturally.

Nichiren prayed for it in response to a prayer request of the disease recovery from Ito Hachiro-zaemon, and the illness recovered wonderfully. Hachiro-zaemon is converted to Nichiren by this affair, and, he contributed the Buddha statue which a fisherman of Ito found from all over the sea to Nichiren. Nichiren carries about this Buddha statue through lifetime and he leaves a will "you must put it in side of the cemetery of me" to Nikko.

In addition, Priest Nichikan write down 'Politic Practices in the Latter Days of Law, in Six-Volume' about the reason why Nichiren had Buddha statue as follows.

"Because this time was the beginning of the propagation of one religion, therefore, as first reason, it is thought he used a Buddha statue according to the utility of times.

As the second reason, the whole people of Japan think an object of worship with Amida. However, the then believer made Buddha by chance. Why can one not help admiring it?

The third reason is because that statue of Buddha is the three thousand realms in one mind and is the Buddha having the intrinsically perfect wisdom really when saint Nichiren of our sect founder uses it,

In addition, Hokibo, namely priest Nikko, spread their religion in Usami and Yoshida of Izu while supporting Nichiren constantly and faithfully, and he converted Kongoin Gyoman of the Shingon monk of Atami to the sect of Nichiren. Gyoman changed Nichigyo and the name and called his dorter Daijoji Temple.

Nichiren who received this great persecution leaves the following writings.

The Lotus Sutra is the supreme sacred book.

A retribution comes to a person punishing Nichiren who propagate the Lotus Sutra in the latter days of Law.

“To forbid one who upholds the Lotus is to forbid Tathagata Shakyamuni. How astonished Brahma, Shakra, and the four kings of heaven must be! If it is not now, when will the ten demon daughters' vow to split the skull of one who persecutes a follower of the Lotus into seven pieces be carried out?

Ajatashatru, who had imprisoned King Bimbisara of father, suddenly suffered bad diseases such as smallpox and measles in his present life. How can one who has imprisoned an upholder of the Lotus not suffer bad diseases in this present life?". The Same Salty Flavor’.

The ten daughters of demon are children of Hariti, and they are style of the fiends and evil spirit. It is said that they protect a person keeping the Lotus Sutra together with Brahma and Shakra, torment an enemy.

Bimbisara was the King of the ancient Indian big power Makadha. He had admired Shakyamuni Buddha thick, but Ajatashatru of the prince received the temptation of Devadatta and has killed father. Ajatashatru received the reward and produced a bad disease to a whole body, and it is said that he became a serious condition.
