In addition, there is the scholar who supposed this phenomenon from the scientific standpoint.

Hideo Hirose who was the director of Tokyo Astronomical Observatory and was the professor at Tokyo University said that the true shape of this bright metal was the piece which a comet dropped namely a meteor.

That day, September 13 in 8th year of Bun'ei era (1281) is October 25 of the present by the solar calendar. This meteoric swarm is active in the late October, and this is because it often produces a bright meteor. The base producing this meteor swarm is Encke's comet. This comet revolves around the sun with a period of 3.3 years. A small piece (a meteor) which it dropped along the orbit falls to the earth, Hirose said that it has saved the life of Nichiren. In any case the luminous body uncovered a plot to bury Nichiren in darkness.

Shijo-Kingo was astonished of getting over the predicament of the desperate situation, was running up to the teacher to joy of the safety.

“Saint! What is most important is that you are safe.”

However, we do not know why, Nichiren did an unexpected action.

He scolded the soldiers who has put to rout.

“Here, why do you shrink from this sinful prisoner? Come closer! Come closer! What if the dawn should come? You must hurry up and execute me, once the day breaks, it will be unsightly!”

It is terrible spirit.

But the soldiers bent the body to grass and sand and shook with fear without being able to move. Even if they were valiant in the fight, they were coward about a mysterious phenomenon to death.

Nichiren still calls to them being angry.

There was no one to answer it.

The sun which shined then appeared from the far-off horizon, and day broke.

Nichiren was exposed to the direct rays of the sun and sat with his legs bent beneath in the sandy beach.

And he put hands together towards the sun, and he chanted the title of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and prostrated himself to the ground.

Waves are breaking on the shore.

When Nichiren who prostrated himself got up the waist, solar rays lighted up the whole body of Nichiren.

Shijo Kingo, disciples and the believers of Hokibo and others trembled with this style, run and prostrated themselves to Nichiren himself.

The heavens are filled with the sun of the first genesis and light up Nichiren and his disciples.

Nichiren leaves feelings of this time in the letter which he addressed to Shijo Kingo nine days later as follows.

“In this life, as the votary of the Lotus Sutra, I was exiled, received a capital punishment. The place of the exile is Ito, and the capital punishment is Tatsunokuchi. Tatsunokuchi in Sagami country is the place where I, Nichiren, threw away own life. How could it be inferior than the Buddha land? This is because the reason is already the reason of the Lotus Sutra. The Sutra states, “there is the only Law in the countries of Buddha of the ten directions,” it will be this meaning. The only Law preached with this text of the sutra is Lotus Sutra. The others do not exist than the Lotus Sutra in the Buddha countries of the ten directions at all. This is because Shakyamuni says so. ‘Removes the teachings of the means of the Buddha’. If it is so, every place where Nichiren meets a persecution will be the land of Buddha. Japan in the saha world, Sagami country in Japan, Katase in Sagami country, Tatsunokuchi in Katase, are where Nichiren put his life. Because he gave his life there for the sake of the Lotus Sutra, Tatsunokuchi deserves to be called the land of tranquil light (note). This might be what the chapter of "Divine Powers" states; “Whether in a garden, a forest . . . or in mountain valleys or the wide wilderness . . . Buddha has entered nirvana on these places.”The Tatsunokuchi Persecution’

It is also called as the land of eternal tranquil light. One of four land which Tientai preached in the Commentary on the Meditation Sutra. It is the country where true Buddha lives. The eternity means an permanent innateness or the body, and the quiet simplicity is a meaning of Nirvana and the emancipation, and the light is a meaning of the wisdom to light up the diverse aspects. The Buddha land of this eternity, Nirvana, light is the eternal land of the tranquil light. However, Shakyamuni Buddha preached in the Tathagata life span chapter of 16th of the Lotus Sutra, "Since that, and he revealed that it was the land of the eternal tranquil light namely the saha world." Nichiren Daishonin preaches it that the address of a person maintaining a marvelous Law is the land of the eternal tranquil light.

“Now, when Nichiren and his followers chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, they are revealing that the phantom city is none other than the treasure land.
