GOSHO 上野尼御前御返事 Wu-lung and I-lung 12

遺竜が云く、我が手にて書きけり(いか)でか君たすかり給うべき、(しか)も我が心より()くに非ず・いかに・いかにと申せば、

I-lung said,“It was my hand that wrote the titles. How could you have been saved? Moreover, I did not write them with sincerity. How could it possibly have helped you?”

Yi-long protested,It is true, my hand transcribed the characters, but how could that have saved youMoreover, I did so against my will. How should what you say be true

父答えて云く、汝はかなし、汝が手は我が手なり、汝が身は我が身なり・汝が書きし字は我が書きし字なり。

His father replied: “How ignorant you are! Your hand is my hand, and your body is my body. The characters you write are the characters I write.

 To this his father replied,You simply don’t understand! As my son, your hand is my hand and your body is my body. Therefore, it is as if I wrote the characters that flowed from your hand.

汝心に信ぜざれども手に書く故に(すで)にたすかりぬ。

Although you had no faith in your heart, you nevertheless wrote the titles with your hand. Therefore, I have already been saved.

Although you did not believe in the Lotus Sutra, your hand wrote the characters, and that is why I was saved.

(たと)えば小児(しょうに)の火を放つに、心にあらざれども物を焼くが如し。

Think of a child who sets fire to something and, without the least intention of doing so, causes it to be burned.

Suppose a child starts a fire that accidentally burns something.

法華経も(また)かくの如し、存外に信を成せば必ず仏になる。

The same holds true with the Lotus Sutra. If one professes faith in it, one will surely become a Buddha, even though one may not expect it in the least.

It is the same with the Lotus Sutra, for if one happens to embrace it even without sincerity, he will unquestionably become a Buddha.

又其の義を知りて(ぼう)ずる事無かれ、

Now that you understand this principle, never slander the Lotus Sutra.

Now that you are aware of its supremacy, you must never slander the Lotus Sutra.

(ただ)し在家の事なれば、いひしこと(ことさら)大罪なれども懺悔(さんげ)しやすしと云云。

Since we are among the laity, however, we are in a better position to repent of our past slanderous words, no matter how grave they may have been.”

Even though our offense was great, because we are laymen, it will be relatively easy to repent and expiate our slander."

法華取要抄文段 三七  本門の題目とは信行具足するなり。何ぞ止(ただ)唱題のみならんや


 第六  本門の題目を明かす

 

 ()れ本門の題目とは即ち是れ妙行なり。聖人垂教の本意、衆生入理の要蹊(ようけい)(ただ)此の事に在り。(あに)池に臨んで魚を()(あえ)て網を結ばず、(かて)(つつ)みて足を(つか)ね、安座して行かざるべけんや。故に(よろ)しく妙行を励むべき者なり。

当に知るべし、行に始終有り。(いわ)く、信心は是れ唱題の始めなり。唱題は是れ信心の終りなり。是れ則ち刹那(せつな)の始終、一念の因果なり。

妙楽大師云く「理に依って信を起す。信を行の本と為す」等云云。亦云く「一念信解とは即ち()れ本門立行の(はじめ)」等云云。()()を以て之を言わば、信心は目の如く、唱題は足の如し。目足具足して能く寂光に(おもむ)くなり。天台云く「智目(ちもく)(ぎょう)(そく)をもって清涼(しょうりょう)()(いた)る」等云云。

当体義抄に云く「当体蓮華を証得して(じょう)寂光(じゃっこう)の当体の(みょう)()を顕す事は本門寿量の教主の金言を信じて南無妙法蓮華経と唱うるが故なり」云云。
 此の一文に三大秘法は了々明々たり、学者見るべし。当に知るべし、心に本尊を信ずれば、本尊即ち我が心に()み、仏界即九界の本因妙なり。口に妙法を唱うれば、我が身即ち本尊に染み、九界即仏界の本果妙なり。境智既に冥合す、(しき)(しん)何ぞ別ならんや。十界()()
・百界千如(せんにょ)・一念三千・事行の南無妙法蓮華経是れなり。

当流深秘の血脈抄に云く「(しゅう)とは所作(しょさ)究竟(くきょう)なり、受持本因の所作に()って()(しょう)に本果の究竟を得」等云云。
 甚深甚深、口外すべからず。故に本門の題目とは信行具足するなり。何ぞ(ただ)唱題のみならんや。若し他流の(やから)は口に妙法を唱うと雖も(ただ)是れ宝山の空手なり是れ即ち本門の本尊を信ぜざるが故なり。
 法蓮抄に云く「信()くして此の経を行ぜんは手()くして宝山に入り、足なくして千里の道を(くわだ)つるが如し」等云云。(いか)に況んや本迹一致の(だい)僻見(びゃっけん)、蓮師違背の大罪をや。何ぞ無間(むけん)(まぬか)れん。悲しむべし、悲しむべし。
