Gosho 日妙聖人御書 Letter to Nichimyo saint

当(まさ)に知るべし須弥山(しゅみせん)をいただきて大海をわたる人をば見るとも、此(こ)の女人(にょにん)をば見るべからず。

Think of it! Even if one were to meet a person who could cross the ocean carrying Mount Sumeru on his head, one could never find a woman like you.

Should know. Even if people meet a person who receive Mount Sumeru on his head in crossing the ocean, people can never find a woman like you.

砂をむして飯となす人をば見るとも此の女人をば見るべからず。

Even though one might find a person who could steam sand and make boiled rice of it, one could never meet a woman like you.

当(まさ)に知るべし釈迦仏・多宝仏・十方分身の諸仏・上行(じょうぎょう)・無(む)辺(へん)行(ぎょう)等の大菩薩(だいぼさつ)・大梵天(ぼんてん)王・帝釈(たいしゃく)・四王等・此(この)女人をば影の身に・そうがごとく・まほり給うらん。

You should know that Shakyamuni Buddha, Many Treasures Buddha, the Buddhas of the ten directions who are Shakyamuni’s emanations, great bodhisattvas such as Superior Practices and Boundless Practices, Brahmā, Shakra, the four heavenly kings, and other deities will protect you, just as a shadow accompanies the body.

Should know. Shakyamuni Buddha, Taho Buddha, various Buddha of the ten directions who are Shakyamuni's incarnations, magnificent bodhisattvas such as Jogyo and Muhengyo, Brahma, Shakra, the four kings of the heavens, and other deities will protect you as if a shadow accompanies to the body.

日本第一の法華経の行者の女人なり、故に名を一つつけたてまつりて不(ふ)軽(きょう)菩薩の義になぞらへん・日妙聖人等云云。

You are the foremost votary of the Lotus Sutra among the women of Japan. Therefore, following the example of Bodhisattva Never Disparaging, I bestow on you the Buddhist name Sage Nichimyō.
