Nichiren did the lecture of the Lotus Sutra in front of disciples as always. The atmosphere overflowed in heat, and mood to the kosen-rufu, namely propagation to the whole world, even more increased.

“The doctrine of three thousand realms in a single moment of life, it is not forgiven on the provisional teachings, furthermore it is not being preached before the Lotus Sutra at all. The origin of the doctrine of three thousand realms in a single moment of life is 'the actual aspect of ten moves' which is preached when the three provisional teachings almost opened, and its meaning belongs only to the radical teachings. We understand the sentence which was preached before the Lotus Sutra by the provisional doctrine and we understand the provisional sentence by the radical doctrine. But the method to understand a doctrine from a sentence is limited by only the radical teachings. Therefore, the ascetic practices for fulfilling are various. Counting sand, and seeing the ocean are ascetic practices too. One reads the sutra preached before the Lotus Sutra or chants the name of various incarnations of the Buddha such as Amida. These either need not say. But these are ascetic practices in various times. What one should chant always for conforming to the ascetic practices of the fulfilling really is Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. Though what one should keep in a mind is the meditation of three thousand realms in a single moment of life, it is the ascetic practices of the person of intellect. Must let the lay believers of Japan merely chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo earnestly. A name has a virtue reaching a whole by all means. There are 17 kinds of names in the Lotus Sutra, and these are popular names. All incarnations of the Buddha holding the eternal life named it Nam-myoho-renge-kyo in alias”.On the Ten Chapters of ‘Great Concentration and Insight’”.

After the lecture, Hokibo has begun to talk with joy impatiently.

“There is a lot of samurai hoping to hear the sermon of the Lotus Sutra”.

Nichiro followed him.

“A rumor that the prayers for rain of the priest came true is spreading, and the person asking for sermon from the place other than Kamakura cannot count them. Until ten-odd years ago, everyone was a Nembutsu believer. But now, thanks to the priest, out of ten persons, we will find that one or two persons chant only Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, and two or three persons chant it along with the Nembutsu. And even among those who chant the Nembutsu exclusively, they seem believing in the Lotus Sutra in mind”.

Sanmibo was either triumphantly boasting.

“I was able to preach in front of the samurais controlling the Shogunate”.

He became the Kyoto accent suddenly.

“I was invited to court noble of Kyoto, and I talked to them, and was given honor recently. Therefore, I intend to change my name”.

Sanmibo has begun to talk with a court noble accent fluently.
