Gosho 本因妙抄 一 The Transmission of the Heritage of the Law in the Hokke Hommon Sect 1

今日(こんにち)熟(じゅく)脱(だつ)の本迹二門を迹と為(な)し久遠(くおん)名字(みょうじ)の本門を本と為す、

Shyakyamuni Buddha expounded the theoretical and essential teachings of the Lotus Sutra to bestow the benefits of maturing and harvesting on the people [during his lifetime and after his death]. They are, however the theoretical teachings. On the other hand, Myoho [-Renge-Kyou] at the stage of first hearing the name of the Law in the infinite past of kuon ganjo, is the essential teaching.

信心強(ごう)盛(じょう)にして唯(ただ)余念無く南無妙法蓮華経と唱え奉れば凡身即(そく)仏身なり。

When a common mortal single-mindedly chants Nam-Myoho-Rnge-Kyo with strong faith, he will become a Buddha.
