Gosho 諸法実相抄二 The True Aspect of All Phenomena 2

　いかにも今度・信心をいたして法華経の行者にてとをり、日蓮が一門とな(成)りとをし給うべし、

　Now, no matter what, strive in faith and be known as a votary of the Lotus Sutra, and remain my disciple for the rest of your life.
　Whatever may happen, you now must practice assiduously, maintain your faith as a votary of the Lotus Sutra, and be a follower of Nichiren throughout your life.

Whatever will happen, strive in faiths and keep a votary of the Lotus Sutra, and be a follower of Nichiren throughout your life.

　日蓮と同意ならば地涌の菩薩たらんか、

　If you are of the same mind as Nichiren, you must be a Bodhisattva of the Earth.
　If your mind is one with Nichiren, you must be one of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth.

　If you are of the same mind with Nichiren, you must be a bodhisattva welling from the ground.

　地涌の菩薩にさだ(定)まりなば釈尊久遠の弟子たる事あに疑はんや、

　And if you are a Bodhisattva of the Earth, there is not the slightest doubt that you havebeen a disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha from the remote past.

　And if you are a bodhisattva welling from the ground, there is not even slight doubt that you have been a disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha from the remote past.

　経に云く「我久遠より来(この)かた是等の衆を教化す」とは是なり、

　The sutra states, “Ever since the long distant past I have been teaching and converting this multitude.”

　The sutra states, ‘Ever since the long distant past I have been civilizing this large number of people'.

　末法にして妙法蓮華経の五字を弘めん者は男女はきらふべからず、

　There should be no discrimination among those who propagate the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo in the Latter Day of the Law, be they men or women.

　In Latter day of the Law, there are no inequalities among those who propagate Myoho- Reng-Kyo, be they men or women.

There should be no discrimination among those who propagate five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo in the latter day of the Law regardless of men or women.

　皆地涌の菩薩の出現に非ずんば唱へがたき題目なり、

　Were they not Bodhisattvas of the Earth, they could not chant the daimoku.

　Without the advent of the Bodhisattva of the Earth, they could not chant the Daimoku.

Are they not Bodhisattvas welling from the ground, they cannot chant the daimoku.

　日蓮一人はじめは南無妙法蓮華経と唱へしが、二人・三人・百人と次第に唱へつた(伝)ふるなり、

　At first only Nichiren chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, but then two, three, and a hundred followed, chanting and teaching others.

　Although I, Nichiren alone, at first chanted Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, two, three, then a hundred people gradually began to chant and propagate it.

　Although I, Nichiren alone, at first chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, two, three, then a hundred people gradually began to chant and propagate it.

　未来も又しかるべし、

　Propagation will unfold this way in the future as well.

　So shall it continue into the future.

　Propagation will unfold this way in the future as well.

　是あに地涌の義に非ずや、

　Does this not signify “emerging from the earth?".

　Indeed, this is none other than the principle of ”emerging from the earth.”

　Does this not signify “welling from the ground” indeed?

剰(あまつさ)へ広宣流布の時は日本一同に南無妙法蓮華経と唱へん事は大地を的(まと)とするなるべし、

　At the time when the Law has Kōsen Rufu [spread far and wide], the entire Japanese nation will chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, as surely as an arrow aimed at the earth cannot miss the target.

　Just as an arrow aimed at the vast earth will never miss tis target, the entire Japanese nation will chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo at the time of kōsen rufu.

　Moreover, at the time of kosen rufu [spread far and wide], the entire Japanese nation will chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, as surely as an arrow aimed at the earth cannot miss the target".

　ともかくも法華経に名をたて身をまかせ給うべし

　But now you must build your reputation on the Lotus Sutra and give yourself up to it.
