Gosho 御義口伝下 Orally Transmitted teachings on the Lotus Sutra Part 2

第十四　畢是罪已復遇(ございひっちぶぐう)常(じょう)不軽(ふきょう)菩薩(ぼさつ)の事

Point Fourteen, on the words

「是(こ)の罪を畢(お)え已(おわ)って、復(また)常不軽菩薩の阿耨多羅三藐三(あのくたらさんみゃくさん)菩提(ぼだい)を教化するに遇(あ)いにき」

“After they had finished paying for their offenses, they once more encountered the bodhisattva Never Disparaging, who instructed them inanuttara-samyak-sambodhi [supreme perfect enlightenment].”

御義口伝に云く、若(も)し法華誹謗の失(とが)を改めて信伏随従(ずいじゅう)する共、浅く有っては無間(むけん)に堕(お)つ可きなり、

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says: Though people may regret their error in slandering the Lotus Sutra [ Gohonzon ] and take faith in and give allegiance to the teachings, if their faith is shallow, they will still have to fall into the hell of incessant suffering.

先謗(せんぼう)強きが故に依(よ)るなり、

This is due to the vehemence with which they earlier committed slander.

千劫無間地獄に堕ちて後に出づる期(ご)有つて又日蓮に値(あ)う可きなり、

But after they have been plunged into the hell of incessant suffering for a thousand kalpas and the time has come for their release, then they will meet Nichiren once again.

復遇(ぶぐう)日蓮なるべし。

As the sutra says, “they once more” will encounter Nichiren.
