Gosho 報恩抄 The Duty of Repaying Good Will

　　日蓮が慈悲(じひ)曠(こう)大(だい)ならば南無妙法蓮華経は万年の外(ほか)・未来までもなが(流布)るべし、

　If Nichiren’s compassion is truly great and encompassing, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo will spread for ten thousand years and more, for all eternity,
　Since Nichiren’s compassion is vast, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo will prevail for ten thousand years and beyond into the future.

　If Nichiren's benevolence is vast, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo will flow for ten thousand years and until the eternity either.

　日本国の一切衆生の盲目をひらける功徳あり、

　for it has the beneficial power to open the blind eyes of every living being in the country of Japan,

There is the beneficial power to open the blind eyes of all the people of the country in Japan,

無間(むけん)地獄の道をふさぎぬ、　

　and it blocks off the road that leads to the hell of incessant suffering.

　and it blocks the path to the hell of incessant suffering.

　and it blocks the path to the hell of incessant suffering.

　此の功徳は伝教・天台にも超へ竜樹(りゅうじゅ)・迦葉(かしょう)にもすぐれたり、

　Its benefit surpasses that of Dengyō and T’ien-t’ai, and is superior to that of Nāgārjuna and Mahākāshyapa.

　Its benefits surpass those of the teachings of Dengyo and Tiantai, and far superior to these of Nagarjuna andMahakasyapa.

　Its benefits surpass that of Dengho and Tientai, and are superior to that of Nagarjuna and Mahakashyapa.
