(むし)(もち)一百まい、かし(菓子)ひと()()(たま)(おわ)んぬ。

I have received a hundred slabs of steamed rice cake and a basket of fruit.

I have received your offerings of 100 steamed cakes and a basket of fruit.

正月の一日は日のはじめ、月の始め、としのはじめ、春の始め、

New Year’s Day marks the first day, the first month, the beginning of the year, and the start of spring.

New Year’s Day is the first day, the first month of the new year, and the beginning of the year and of spring.

此れをもてなす人は月の西より東をさしてみつがごとく、日の東より西へわたりてあきらかなるがごとく、とく()もまさり人にもあい()せられ候なり。

A person who celebrates this day will accumulate virtue and be loved by all, just as the moon becomes full gradually, moving from west to east, and as the sun shines more brightly, traveling from east to west.

Therefore, those who cherish this day will amass virtues and will be loved by others, just as the moon becomes gradually full while traveling from west to east and the sun shines increasingly brighter as it moves from east to west.
